Dougies Depot now on Alternative Armies

Hello Everyone,

This just in from Alternative Armies.  Its been a month in the planning but finally the company has begun to put up publically on their website all of the pro-painted miniatures from all their game systems and ranges that for one reason or another are not shipped out in orders.  See below for the main text and link but this is well worth a look and I myself have picked up half a dozen 28mm Fantasy Orcs for DarkeStorme.

When the armies of the gaming table are not in conflict it is to Master Sergeant Dougie McSwee that they turn to for new uniforms, weapons and a space in the crowded barracks of the wargaming universe. For you and I this means a break from battle and a chance to plan some new recruits to your miniature forces. There are few better places to get these reinforcements than here. Here at Dougies Depot Pro-Painted, White Metal, Fully Based and ready to play 28mm scale miniatures from Alternative Armies are presented for inspection in a different way.

Dougies Depot is our place for end of run production, over stocks, cancelled orders and other reasons that result in painted miniatures produced by hand here in Scotland and finished to the highest wargaming standard being left in our crowded warehouse. So Dougie has here a listing of all these miniatures, each with his coding structure (though you will doubtless recognise these fine little fellows from our ranges) for you to dig through and choose from at your leisure. We cannot say for sure what will appear here, only that it will be items listed elsewhere on this website as part of packs or larger codes and that what you see is what you get.

Miniatures, packs even full unit codes for Flintloque, Slaughterloo, High Fantasy, Frontear, Erin, Ion Age and more.

With a special 'Depot' saving minimum of ten percent off the regular list price each infantry miniature is only £3.60 and that includes the metal miniature, the base, the hand painting, sculpted basing effect and secure packaging straight to you.

Oh and any discount code you have from us CAN be used ON TOP of Dougies Depot discount here!

Go on...have a dig on Dougie!

Work underway on USE ME 15mm Fantasy system

Hello Barkers,

I can now confirm that work is well underway on the second title in the USE ME (Ultra Simple Engine for Miniature Engagements) series of rule sets.  Following up on the success and acceptance of UM001 USE ME 15mm Science Fiction rules 15mm.co.uk is developing; USE ME 15mm Fantasy.

Based on the core mechanics of the science fiction version of USE ME the Fantasy version will be able to cover Skirmishes, Battles, Campaign and Solo play.  Using a variation on the mechanic to combine single characters up into formations of ten to fifty miniatures.   Also included will be magic, monsters, titans, artillery, healers, heroes and much more.

We promise that this version of the USE ME mechanic will entertain and give fantasy players a very versitile system that can cover anything from five a side fist fights to several hundred a side pitched battles.

More information is to come and internal playtesting is about to begin.

(Above you can see HOT91 Orc Command, view it HERE )

If you are interested in getting more information about this set of rules please email Alexander Scott HERE and ask to be put on the 'USE ME 15mm Fantasy list' and he will do the rest for you.

Thanks for reading.

Lesser Goblins now in 28mm High Fantasy range

Hello Barkers,

Its been a wait of two weeks for some of us but the brilliant KC1 Lesser Goblins pack is now on the Alternative Armies website and is out to buy! Click on the image above to make it larger.

The pack contains eleven little goblinoids armed with a mix of sword, sword and shield or spear and what is great is that there is a whole host of different poses meaning almost all of them are different! Each stands approx 12mm in height making them knee height on the fearsome Mountain Orcs in pack code KC2.

These miniatures have been off the market for many years and are fondly remembered by a lot of wargamers who have been customers of Alternative Armies since the 1990's.

Your Orcish army needs a horde of these little blighters as fodder for Elven or Human troops and at only £6.00 a pack they are super value.

You can see them HERE.

Thanks,

Gavin.

Painted Releases from Alternative Armies

Hello Barkers,

Its friday once more and this time we have a couple of postings but first up is the second lot of pro-painted fantasy releases in 28mm scale from Alternative Armies. Its a real treat this time as we can see some of the last lot of 28mm fantasy releases now as finished miniatures for use right onto the table out of the box they come in!

As always you can learn more on the Alternative Armies website by clicking HERE and then browsing the sub-sections by racial type.

Below are images, click on them to make them larger along with the codes and titles. At an average of only £4.00 per miniature (that includes not only the casting itself but also the painting, the base and the sculpted basing effect as well) these are superb value and adorn my own gaming table at home (three small children prevent much painting!).

As before you can buy the whole pack or select singles in any quantity from it. This is very useful as it allows you (or me in this case) to get one pack of 95519 Mountain Orcs and then to add eight more mixed of the Sword and Spear armed warriors in that code to make up a full warband for DarkeStorme.

95522 Orc Artillery (3)

95519 Mountain Orcs (6)

KC2 Mountain Orcs (3)

KC1 Lesser Goblins (11)

Thanks for looking.

Hello Barkers!

Its a big week for High Fantasy in 28mm scale. In fact they have now fought their way out from under the pile of Barking Irons magazines and Baron Petrochemicoli limited editions to get my attention!

Some of you will be aware that Alternative Armies produces a great deal of top notch painted miniatures every year, all hand painted here in Scotland, covering everything from Flintloque / Slaughterloo miniatures to HOF and HOT 15mm miniatures. These painted miniatures also include High Fantasy in 28mm. Starting this week the company has introduced a brand new system and web page for these painted and based miniatures.

Have a look here for full details of the range, the service and what is on offer.

At only £4.00 a miniature (less if you take the full pack code) you can purchase a full set or multiples or any singles from it. Maximum flexibility. This is a great way to get playing DarkeStorme (see here) or any other system for High Fantasy both wargaming and roleplaying.

The releases have begun with some really spiffing and useful Undead and a couple of Trolls. Here are some pictures to whet your whistle for more! See the site link above for full details of each code.

Mountain Orcs and Orc Artillery at Alternative Armies

Hello Everyone,

Those of you who are eagle eyed might have noticed I am a day late in posting up this news about new miniatures from Alternative Armies in the High Fantasy 28mm range. Well, I have been a bit under the weather and still am to an extent, but hopefully I will be back to normal next week. That aside here is the news!

Led by a truly massive warlord this pack also has a wizard, standard bearer, musician, spearman and swordsman too. Each Orc stands 30mm tall. Choosing poses 5 and 6 in multiples allows the creation of larger units of Mountain Orcs when combined with code KC02.

Pose 2: 95519-02 Wizard
Pose 3: 95519-03 Standard Bearer with Stone Club

From the left the poses are

Pose 1: KC02-01 Spiked Club and Shield
Pose 2: KC02-02 Two Handed Spiked Mace
Pose 3: KC03-03 Greatsword and Shield

All the miniatures are supplied with round lipped plastic bases included in the price and as with the rest of the range you can choose to buy the whole pack or single miniatures in any quantity from the pack. So if you want nine Mountain Orcs with Sword and Shield you can have it!

Gavin.

Alternative Armies to re-release entire High Fantasy Range - 10% offer this week

Hello Everyone,

Some news for you all. Alternative Armies possesses one of the finest range of high fantasy 25-28mm scale miniatures around. Built up in the mid nineteen nineties there are more than two hundred miniatures in the range from Dwarves and Elves to Undead and monsters along with some very unique codes. With the release of DarkeStorme the Skirmish the company has taken the chance to bring the ENTIRE range back into the public sphere once more. Many of the miniatures have not been seen for more than a decade.

This process will of course take some time to carry out in full but its now well underway. The original code structure is being used and first to come into the light are the DH codes, the Dwarven Host.

See here for the High Fantasy section of the Alternative Armies website: HF

With advances in web technology Alternative Armies can bring these miniatures to you in an extremely flexible way. You can view the packs, you can see hi-rez images too. You can choose to purchase an entire pack, or choose any of the miniatures from the pack as singles in any quantity. All the miniatures are at great prices with five Dwarves (including round plastic bases) coming in at £8.00 or £1.75 each if you choose singles from the pack.

By going to the website you can read all about this flexibility and see it in action by playing around with the buttons.

As a special offer I am able to tell you that there is a 10% off code now in effect on these newly put up codes. To make use of it go to the website and put High Fantasy miniature codes and or a copy of DarkeStorme in your basket. Then proceed to the cart screen and choose your postal region. Then on to the Checkout Screen (white background), here put in to the 'Discount / Voucher' box this exact numeric code ' 1991 ', the total for your order will automatically reduce by 10% on screen. The offer is in effect until next Monday morning.

Go on, get yourselves some Dwarves...or even a Bombard!

Gavin.
