VLE08 Orc Chaplain - Blog Exclusive posting
Hello Everyone,
Another posting, this time on a Saturday evening just after an afternoon of playing Firefight 2.0 in practise for the Salute participation games a week today. This time a look at the latest Very Limited Edition (VLE) miniature from Alternative Armies; the Orc Chaplain. This miniature is a great character and is perfect for any player who has a Grand Alliance, especially an Orcs of Albion force to have. What battalion does not need some guidance!
You can get the rules for Faith Characters in Flintloque on this very blog, the page from the brand new 5027 Grapeshotte book is here and can be downloaded and printed for free. See this here: LINK
I can reveal also that Alex Scott tells me we have already sold nearly 30% of the total run of 250 packs already and that only 50 packs are allocated to Salute stock for the AA stand on the day (this is for fairness, if all the packs sold in one day gamers who could not make it on the day would have no chance to get a pack). First come, first served on the day. Pre-order yours now to ensure you get one.
See the VLE08 pack on the Alternative Armies website here: LINK
Now for a couple of images of the pack, include the only rear view you are likely to see. Enjoy!

56540 Cotechino Guarda - Barking Irons exclusive!
This time we have an exclusive update for the Barking Irons blog concerning some of the finest miniatures Alternative Armies have put out in a while for Flintloque and Slaughterloo. I am talking, of course, about the Cotechino Guarda; the elite Todoroni soldiers of Nepolise. Click on the image above to see them in action in hi-rez.
Below are four unique pictures that we have permission to post up here, click on each to see the eight different miniatures in code 56540 in hi-rez. After this a short review of each of the poses and then some information on the uniform and the background of these miniatures for the World of Valon.
The miniature poses, image by image left to right, are as follows:
Captain armed with sword, in fencing pose. This is a great miniature and is perfect to lead any Todoroni unit in battle. Plus his posing means that he is the most animate Toad officer in the Flintloque range
Standard Bearer with standard pole. This fellow looks glum while he stands with flag pole at the ready. The pole itself is long enough to attach a variety of paper or metal flags of your choice.
Sergeant with musket and cigar. I had mixed feelings on this chap to begin with, tobacci being harmful and all, but he grows on you. Debonair and seemingly not bothered by the impending carnage this is perhaps a Sergeant who is not to be trusted?
Operatic Singer, in full voice. Among the Todoroni of Nepolise there are no drummers or bugle players..they sing instead! This guy grips his collar as he holla's in full voice. Using the rules for singers in 5027 Grapeshotte he is a useful figure.
Private with Musket, marching. Great for building up twenty figure units for Slaughterloo mass batle this miniature gives you the ranker in all his glory...marching to war.
Private with Musket, marching. Great for building up twenty figure units for Slaughterloo mass batle this miniature gives you the ranker in all his glory...marching to war.
Private with Musket, standing. This infantry Toad is the normal pose for a private, ready for anything that comes at him. He is also the most powerfully built of the eight miniatures and strikes you as a strong fellow.
Private with Musket and Bayonet, advancing. The face of this miniature is simply fantastic, full of emotion. What is he feeling as he advances...nostrils flared...wish I knew but he means business!
Private wth Musket, firing. Blast em! With a smug leer on his face this trooper is firing his musket at the enemy.
To get some of these miniatures go along to Alternative Armies. Also you can get 15% off your order using the Salute 2010 offer. Details on the page in the link.
Full rules for Todoroni can be found in 5025 Flintloque - War in Catalucia (and Flintloque Lite) and full rules for the elite troop type 'Guard' along with this regiment itself can be found in 5027 Grapeshotte. For additional troopers to build on this force look at code: 56127 A full unit of 20 can be found under code 56540-U.
3O COTECHINO GUARDA - REGIMENTO DE TADIO POLIO
Quite a few Armoricans were surprised when the annual troop review took place in Nappoly when after thousands of gaudily dressed Todoroni marched past in a variety of styles all different to each other naturally they saw something new. Last in the review were five new regiments that had been privately raised and then gifted to King Tadio Polo who sat on his golden throne and clapped excitedly at the new troops marched past in perfect formation and saluted him as they went.
Murmuring the Elves asked each other, who were these excellently drilled, uniformed and equipped soldiers and why were they wearing the trademark bearskins, the headgear of elite guard soldiers. The King waited for the review to end and then at a signal he ordered the regiments to wheel back in to the square in front of the royal stand. As one they raised their muskets and fired a salute to the king making several high ranking Elves duck. They had never seen such precision from Todoroni. At this point a short and portly Toad stepped from the ranks and bowed to the assembled nobility and Elves before ascending to the stand.
He was the Baron Petrochemicoli a very, very rich noble who had become sick of being the butt of all the jokes going on military ineptitude. Hiring several dozen renegade Joccians and Albion Orcs who had fled a flogging at the hands of Wheeling-Turn he quickly discovered that many of them had been part of the elite Coldscream and 1st Foote guards. Elite regiments in the best organised army in the world.
The training had taken two years but now they were ready. To a rising chorus of applause the Baron bowed once more and after formally asking the highest ranking Armorican officer to officially enter the regiments into the Armee he went a step further. He did something no Toad had ever been brave enough to do for fear of failure in battle.
The 3rd Regiment he dedicated to his monarch. They would not fail.
The structure of a Cotechino Guard battalion is as follows. Two Battalions make up a Regiment. Each battalion contains two thousand Little Todoroni at full muster and has ten companies ALL designated as Guard. Each company has two hundred Todoroni which are separated into two Platoons and a headquarters element totaling about one hundred soldiers and officers. A Section normally has ten to twenty Toads including an Officer, a lesser Officer, a couple of Sergeants, a musician and standard bearer, the rest being privates. They are armed with a Ferach Musket and a Bayonet, Officers have a Sword and or a High Elf pistol, Sergeants have a musket.
The uniform consists of a dark green coatee, white breeches and tunic, black gaiters, a black bearskin with a green cording, white cords and gold metal fittings and black shoes. Facing colours (cuffs, collars, etc.) are pink. Equipment is black with equipment straps being of white leather.
Full rules for Todoroni can be found in 5025 Flintloque - War in Catalucia (and Flintloque Lite) and full rules for the elite troop type 'Guard' along with this regiment itself can be found in 5027 Grapeshotte. Raylen Durandus - Promo2009 - Secret 50 for Salute
Hello Everyone,
I am planning on a series of interesting postings here on the blog for you all (you most careful and dedicated of our audience who visit this blog) to get more information, images and hot news which will not be posted up ANYWHERE else including the Notables Group and the AA and 15mm websites.
This is the first of these postings.
(click on the picture for a very large hi-rez version)
Here you can see the Promo2009 miniature 'Colonel Raylen Durandus' of the Imperial Postal Service. This miniature was give FREE with every order placed over the month of December 2009. One for each order placed and one for an order placed for the new book at that time '5026 Flintloque 3rd edition - Death in the Snow'. You can see it here. LINK
This is an extremely rare miniature with only just under 250 in circulation. It was supplied with a special insert giving background and rules. This insert can be had from Alternative Armies as a PDF or check the Notables Yahoo Group.
I am happy to announce the following one time only special arrangement for Salute 2010 which was taken into account back in December 2009.
I have put aside FIFTY castings, the molds were destroyed in January as promised in the offer, these have been in my desk since then. These fifty Promo2009 miniatures ARE INCLUDED in the total given for the production run listed on the Alternative Armies site (total 296 castings),
I have special authority from Alternative Armies to give out these fifty castings of the miniature, which will never be seen again, in the run up to (and if any remain) on the day of the Salute show.
To get one for free all you need to do is buy a copy of 5026 Flintloque 3rd edition - Death in the Snow. This can be the book on its own, the book as part of an order, or the book as part of the 'Trilogy' three book bundle. You can as normal place more than one order. Remember this is on top of the 15% off you can get with the special code for your Salute order and will be included automatically in your package by me personally.
I am an extremely fair person as a lot of you know. So I have already been assigning these miniatures SINCE the start of the Salute offer period to orders containing a copy of 5026. I will continue to do so until they run out. Feel free to email or comment here and ask how many are left. If they run out I will announce it.
Am I not a great guy...
Happy Gaming.
Gavin.
